ABOUT GRETNA
Gretna began as a railroad stop in the 1880s, and its downtown along McKenna Avenue still carries that small-town character: local shops, Dragons spirit on every corner, and neighbors who know each other by name. What’s changed is everything around it, with new subdivisions spreading toward Omaha, a school district growing fast enough to open a second high school, and Nebraska Crossing drawing shoppers from across the region. It’s become one of the fastest-growing communities in the state, and it still feels like the small town people moved here for.
THE HOUSING MARKET
New construction drives the Gretna market, with ranch and two-story plans going up in newer communities like Hidden Hollow, Harvest Creek, and Lincoln Ridge, and finished walkout basements are a common selling point for buyers who want the extra space. Closer to downtown, older homes on established streets offer a lower entry point and mature trees that brand-new phases can’t match. Acreages on the rural edges of town, especially south toward the Platte River, are where buyers find room to spread out, and those properties tend to command a premium.

NEIGHBORHOODS WITHIN GRETNA
Gretna has a way of surprising people. It has the feel of a small town, yet it sits minutes from the interstate, the Nebraska Crossing Outlets, and the Gretna Crossing YMCA. Its neighborhoods are just as varied. Some are brand-new subdivisions where you can pick your builder and floor plan, and others sit on lakes or on an acreage with room to roam. Here are five worth a closer look.
Harvest Creek
Picture a neighborhood where the YMCA and water park are a short walk away and a pond sits in the common area. Harvest Creek, at the southwest corner of 216th & Lincoln Road, is one of Gretna’s newest communities. Several custom builders work here, so you can browse ranches, two-stories, and plans with finished walkout basements before settling on the one that fits. Highway 6 & Highway 370 are close by, which keeps the commute simple.
